EMRS Staff Selection Exam (ESSE)-2025 Recruitment Notification
The National
Education Society for Tribal Students (NESTS), under the Ministry of Tribal
Affairs, has released the EMRS Staff Selection Exam (ESSE)-2025 notification
for recruitment of teaching and non-teaching staff including Principal, PGTs,
TGTs, Hostel Warden, Female Staff Nurse, Accountant, Junior Secretariat
Assistant (JSA) and Lab Attendant. A total of 7,267 vacancies are announced
across India. This is a great opportunity for candidates aspiring to work in
fully residential schools (EMRS).
The EMRS recruitment drive is one of the largest initiatives by the Ministry of
Tribal Affairs to ensure quality education for tribal students by appointing
highly qualified teaching and non-teaching staff in residential schools across
the country. Selected candidates will be responsible for not only teaching but
also for taking part in co-curricular activities, student welfare, and
administration of hostel facilities as EMRS are fully residential schools.
These roles offer an attractive salary structure with allowances including a
10% special allowance for residential duties. This recruitment drive aims to
strengthen the educational infrastructure in tribal areas and provide a stable

Eligibility
Educational Qualifications: Candidates must
have the required degree as per the post – Master's degree with B.Ed. for PGTs,
Graduation with B.Ed. for TGTs, etc. Detailed post-wise qualifications are
given in the official notification.
Age Limit: Maximum 55 years as on 23.10.2025 (after relaxation).
Age Relaxation
SC/ST: 5 years
OBC (NCL): 3 years
Central Govt. Employees (with 3 years continuous service): 5 years
PwBD (General/OBC/SC/ST): 10 / 13 / 15 years respectively
Women (All Categories – PGT/TGT only): 10 years
Non-permanent EMRS staff (as on 01.07.2025): Up to 55 years
Ex-Servicemen: Service period deducted + 3 years
Maximum Age: Not to exceed 55 years including all relaxations
Selection Process & Exam Pattern
The recruitment will be conducted in
multiple stages:
1. Tier-I: Preliminary MCQ-based OMR test (Qualifying)
2. Tier-II: Subject Knowledge Test (Objective + Descriptive)
3. Interview: Only for Principal (Weightage 20%)
4. Skill Test: Only for JSA (Typing Test - Qualifying)
5. Document Verification
6. Medical Examination

The above distribution shows that maximum
vacancies are announced for TGTs followed by PGTs. Candidates can apply for
multiple posts if eligible but must submit separate applications and fees for
each post. The vacancies are tentative and may increase or decrease depending
on administrative requirements.
Educational Qualification Details:
1. Principal: Master's Degree with at least 50% marks and B.Ed. from an NCTE recognized institution with minimum 2 years experience in administrative capacity.2. PGT: Master’s Degree in relevant subject with B.Ed. or equivalent.
3. TGT: Graduation with B.Ed. in relevant subject.
4. Non-Teaching Staff: Qualifications vary by post (e.g., Accountant – B.Com, JSA – 12th pass with typing skills, Lab Attendant – 10th pass with science background).
Candidates must meet the prescribed eligibility criteria as on the last date of application. All documents supporting educational qualifications, age, caste/category, and disability must be produced during document verification.
Detailed Exam Pattern
Tier-I Examination is a qualifying stage
and is designed to shortlist candidates in a 1:10 ratio for Tier-II. It
consists of objective questions on General Awareness, Reasoning, Teaching
Aptitude, ICT, Domain Knowledge and Language Competency Test. For posts like
TGT and PGT, candidates must qualify the language competency test to have their
other sections evaluated.
Tier-II Examination is the main stage and carries maximum weightage in final
selection. It contains both objective and descriptive questions. The
descriptive section evaluates a candidate’s subject knowledge, classroom
scenario handling, case study-based problem solving, and professional aptitude.
For Principal posts, there is an additional Interview/Personal Interaction
round carrying 40 marks which will be considered in a ratio of 80:20 with
Tier-II performance.

Salary & Benefits
Selected candidates will receive a competitive salary as per 7th CPC pay matrix. In addition, employees will receive Dearness Allowance (DA), House Rent Allowance (HRA), Transport Allowance (TA) and a 10% Special Allowance for performing residential duties. They will also be eligible for medical benefits, pension (as per NPS), and other perks as applicable to central government employees.
